Partnership Project for the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Switzerland (2024–2028)

The purpose of the SDG partnership between Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) and Switzerland is to inspire sustainable development interventions in various sectors in both countries through knowledge exchange, innovative approaches, sharing of best practices, and lessons learned in the area of managing the SDG process. The partnership in BiH is managed by the Intersectoral Working Group for Monitoring the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals in BiH (the SDG Council of BiH), appointed by the Council of Ministers of BiH to coordinate and monitor the implementation progress of the SDG Framework.

The proposed specific results of the SDG partnership are as follows:

  • Institutions responsible for managing the 2030 Agenda in BiH and Switzerland establish efficient and effective coordination mechanisms to fulfill their mandates;
  • Participants from the public, private, and civil sectors in BiH and Switzerland establish partnerships for localising the SDGs at subnational levels;
  • The population in BiH is more aware of the importance of the 2030 Agenda and the results of its implementation.

This project is funded by the Embassy of Switzerland in BiH. To assist in the implementation of the program and support activities from the Initial Phase of the project, the Embassy has engaged IREI to administer program activities on behalf of the SDG Council of BiH, i.e., the institutions whose representatives are appointed to the SDG Council.

The first phase of the project from 2025-2028 is now being implemented, with a possible second phase for 2029-2031 if the Swiss embassy decides to continue the partnership.
